Former MEGADETH Guitarist JEFF YOUNG Performs With Members Of HYDROGYN; Video Available
February 23, 2010HYDROGYN members Julie, Jeff Westlake and Jeff Young (ex-MEGADETH) played their first acoustic show together in Cleveland, Ohio at Quaker Steak & Lube this past Saturday, February 20 as part of a showcase for Julie's soon-to-be-released solo album.
Commented the group: "Any ten-cent band can come together to practice and rehearse for days, weeks or months, all in an effort to perfect and fine-tune each and every aspect of each song. But where's the fun in that, we ask?
"What you are about to view is not only the very first public performance but the very first time these three musical allies have played together, having met for the very first time only the night before.
"Just a mere hint of things to come..."
HYDROGYN is currently locked away in an undisclosed location in the snowy hills of Kentucky on a songwriting sabbatical working on its new album, "Judgement", to be released later this year. New to the fold is guitarist Jeff Young who brings his renowned shredding virtuosity as evident on the classic and fan favorite MEGADETH album "So Far, So Good… So What!" (Capitol Records, 1988). Jeff joins members Julie Westlake (vocals),Jeff Westlake (guitars),and New York-based KHZ drummer Joe Migz. Together, they plan to take HYDROGYN on a full-on global assault in 2010.
Sharing bass tracks on the album will be fretless six-string bass wonder Jake Wolf and surprise new addition, powerhouse bassist James Lomenzo, best known for his acclaimed work in WHITE LION, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and, most recently, MEGADETH. James will be making an appearance on a few selected songs, and is currently laying down bass tracks for the first single, "The Right Thing Now".
HYDROGYN is in the midst of tracking and writing for the self-produced album with the aim for a summer release. The first single, "The Right Thing Now", will be mixed with famed producer Michael Wagener (SKID ROW, METALLICA, EXTREME) during the last week of April.
